  • Only one life. 'Twill soon be Past

    So I've got these two books I am reading for Masters Commission. I have to read them then do a one page Response. To help me do this I figure that if I blog while I read, it will give me incentive to finish because I really rather detest these type of Non-Fiction books. Well maybe detest is a bit of a strong word, let's just say I don't normally enjoy them.

    The first book I chose out of the list is called "Don't Waste Your Life" and it is by John Piper. Now so far (and I have only read the first chapter) I actually like this one. Its at least grabbed my attention. There was a story he told, one his father, an Evangelist, always told about an old man who came to Christ. This elderly man was stubborn and hard, his friends and family who went to the church prayed for him for years. Well on the night that John Piper's dad was preaching at this church the old man came in, and at the end of the service gave his life. But what he said broke my heart, as it did to John Piper. "I've wasted it!" Meaning his life.

    I actually had to stop reading the book there for a minute as it hit me. I don't want to be that old man. I don't want to stop one day when I am old and gray, look back and my life and realize I wasted it. Do you realize how depressing that thought would be!?!

    This thought ignited a passion in me, one that I couldn't dig up to save my life. But through those words and that story, God lit the fire again. I don't want a minimal life! I don't want to sit by and watch it fade away! I want to do something for God! It's safe to say I am excited about this book and can't wait to see what God has for me to realize. :)

    And I'm back!

    So I decided to bring this little xanga back. I left the blogging world for a couple years and now I feel its time to come back.

    A few months ago I started a blogspot profile to track my journey through a program called Master's Commission. http://lstraessle.blogspot.com And its just for that specific purpose. However I felt the desire to write about more than just that but I didn't want to do it there really. It didn't flow, so while I was checking a friend's xanga, I remembered my old one and decided to start it up again. I almost shut this down and made a new one but I really liked the name awaitingprincess still and it still fits me. I have changed over the years in so many ways but yet that title still describes me.

    So this blog is just an reintroduction and a statement that I am coming back. My next one will be my real first post back lol. If anyone starts reading this again, I hope you aren't bored to tears and that some how at least one post touches you. :)

    ok well I so totally have forgotten about this place... Sorry.. And this is probably going to be my last post.     AHHH! College is only 18 days away! I am feeling so nervous and exceited at the same time. I don't know if I am ready or not but I'll know soon enough won't I. I just went and stuck my comforter and mushroom chair in layaway so they won't run out of my color scheme before I get to actually buy lol. And tonight i have to go fet a matress topper from Kohls cause its on sale for ten freakin bucks and I don't want them to run out either lol. The eleventh is my dorm shower and I can't wait lol. I can't wait to see the stuff I got and the verses they write in the cards. But most of all I can't wait to decorate my room with stuff they buy me so I can look around and see the love put into it from my church family. I mean I will see them everyweek but its gonna be hard for me to live away from home the first month or so. I am a family freak even if my brother does get on my nerves...but lately since my moving date is getting closer and closer he's getting easier to deal with. Strange huh lol.

    CHildren minitry is going pretty good, not excellent yet cause we are still working out the kinks and stuff. Its a blast though.

  • Tomorrow is the first day of our new Children's Ministry adn I am so excited. We spent all day decorating and everything to get it ready. Lots of paint and stuff lol. Lots of soap to get it off of myhands and feet and out of my hair too. I can't wait. God is gonna do some amazing things tomorrow. I just can feel it.

    I'll let ya know how it goes.
